Awning graphics and lettering, cut in our shop
Your name and logo on the awning, cut on our own graphics machine and welded to Sunbrella fabric on NW Nela Street. Nothing is sent out, so costs stay down, turnaround stays quick and we stand behind the work.
What are awning graphics?
Awning graphics are the logo, name and lettering on an awning’s face, valance or sides. At Rose City Awning & Flag, we cut them in-house on an SGS 100 graphics machine from 3M Scotchcal ElectroCut film, then weld the film electrostatically to Sunbrella awning fabric. They can go on a new awning or on a recover of an existing one.

Try your name on an awning
A quick way to picture it. Type your business name, pick a fabric and a lettering color, and send it to us as a starting point.
From logo file to lettered awning, under one roof
Five steps, all in the same shop. That’s the reason it costs less and turns around faster than graphics sent out to a sign company.

Send your artwork
Your logo file and the wording you want. If you’re recovering an awning we built, we likely already have its dimensions on file.

Sized for the street
We lay the lettering out on the awning so it reads from the sidewalk and across the street, on the face, the valance or the sides.

Cut on our SGS 100
The graphics are cut in-house on an SGS 100 graphics machine from 3M™ Scotchcal™ ElectroCut™ film.

Welded to the fabric
The film is welded electrostatically to Sunbrella awning fabric, rather than painted on or stuck down.

Sewn, framed and installed
The cover is sewn in our shop, fitted to its frame and installed by our crew. No part of it is sent out.
Why in-house matters
“There is no outsourcing.”
- Cost
- No sign-company markup on top of the awning: the lettering is made by the people making the cover.
- Turnaround
- Artwork, cutting, welding and sewing happen in one building, so nothing waits on a vendor.
- Craftsmanship
- One shop is responsible for the whole awning, graphics included, and we stand behind it.

Awning graphics questions
What helps us lay out your lettering:
- Your logo file, any format you have
- The exact wording
- A straight-on photo of the storefront
Can you put our logo on an awning?
Yes. We cut logos and lettering in our own shop on an SGS 100 graphics machine, using 3M Scotchcal ElectroCut film welded to Sunbrella fabric. Graphics can go on a new awning or on a recover of an existing one.
Can you add new graphics to an awning we already have?
Usually through a recover: new fabric on your existing frame, with the new lettering applied. If we built the awning, we likely have its dimensions on file and won’t need to re-measure.
What artwork do you need?
Send whatever logo file you have and the exact wording. We’ll tell you if we need a different file, and lay the lettering out to read from the street.
Do awning graphics need a permit in Portland?
Often, for storefronts. Portland City Code Chapter 32.52 covers awnings, and lettering can bring sign rules into play. We’ll tell you what applies to your project before you order.
